Whether you’re thinking about updating your home or are on the search for your dream property, you may be interested in keeping up with the latest trends in the luxury market. 2023 is shaping up to be an interesting year for interior design as we see more individuality in homes (and less cookie-cutter styling). Here’s a look at what I expect to see more of this year:
Bright Spaces
Natural lighting has always been a desirable feature, but we’re noticing an increase in sun-flooded areas. Oversized windows and skylights are in high demand, but those who don’t have access to natural light can brighten up the space with chandeliers and lamps. Either way, be sure to focus on how light can enhance the ambiance of a room.
Curvature
Straight lines and angular geometry are on the way out for 2023. This principle of minimalism is being replaced by intriguing curves and movement. That being said, you don’t need to overhaul your entire home to achieve this look. If possible, add an archway or choose a lively sculpture or art piece to get in on this trend.
Creative Uses of Color and Texture
The upcoming decade is ushering in a new era of individuality. I’m excited about the embrace of creativity in color and texture as interior designers and homeowners opt out of homogenous pieces in favor of more adventurous, curated design. I love that we’re seeing a rise in hand-painted murals and statement walls, which add to a home’s artistry.
Bringing Nature Indoors
Along the same vein of letting in plenty of natural light, elements of nature will be popular in 2023. There’s just something soothing about a display of real plants, and they can be incorporated into just about any room. We often see house plants in the home office, but even a dining room can benefit from a well-placed indoor plant. Not a fan of live foliage? You can still incorporate nature-inspired design through earthy materials, such as earth-toned paint or live-edge tabletops.
One-of-a-Kind Artwork
Artwork can enhance any space. If you’re interested in adding curated pieces to your walls, consider sourcing original art from local artists. You may even be able to commission a talented local artist to create a mural or texture your walls to perfectly suit your aesthetic.
Interior design enthusiasts have a lot to be excited about in 2023. The luxury market is trending toward individuality, which is excellent news for homeowners who are ready to move away from design that feels uninspired. If you’re planning to list your home, speak with your designer about incorporating elements of design that will best suit your property and accentuate what makes it special.
