15th Street Studio is a contemporary art gallery located in Downtown Boulder’s Design District. I first stumbled upon this gallery space when I went in to frame artwork that I had bought from Madelife. Assuming they were just a custom framing store, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they had an art gallery, too. The owner, Stephen Grant, informed me that 15th Street Studio exhibits the works of many already established and respected artists. In the midst of Boulder’s plethora of retail art shops, it’s great to have a space that showcases high quality, notable art.
Founded in 1984, 15th Street Studio has been an essential part of Boulder’s fine art community for thirty years. Dedicated to exhibiting superb abstract and conceptual art, 15th Street Studio displays original works by museum-bound artists and artists whose pieces are already in the permanent collections of various museums across the country. Past gallery artists include Robert Kushner, Betty Woodman, Hiroki Morinoue, and Mark Lunning.
The artwork exhibited at 15th Street Studio is diverse in medium; past exhibits have included oil paintings, lithographs, wood etchings, and sculptures. Currently, 15th Street Studio is exhibiting the multimedia work of California-based artist Livia Stein. Her life-sized collage figures will be on display through November 29th.
Not only is 15th Street Studio a supporter of talented fine artists, it also supports numerous local non-profits as well. These organizations include the Boulder County Aids Project, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Colorado Music Festival, Dairy Center for the Arts, and Voices for Children.
In addition to their great gallery and charitable giving, 15th Street Studio also offers custom picture framing. With a team skilled in art conservation, the framers at 15th Street Studio take great measures to preserve the artwork during the framing procedure. Not only invested in preserving art, the framing department also collaborates with customers to create beautiful frames that compliment their pictures.
So whether you’re looking for a custom framing studio committed to quality and aesthetics or a top-notch contemporary art gallery with a giving spirit, Boulder’s 15th Street Studio is definitely worth a visit. This celebrated gallery will surely continue to be a vital and creative destination in Boulder’s fine art scene. Located at 1708 15th Street (at Arapahoe), you can visit the gallery Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 5:30 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm. I highly recommend adding yourself to their mailing list when you visit, so that you can stay informed about their upcoming exhibit openings.
