Valentine’s Day in Boulder

Valentine’s Day usually consists of chocolate, cheesy cards, and jewelry.  But there’s another part of Valentine’s Day that is arguably the most enjoyable.  I’m talking about the extravagant, ever-delicious and romantic Valentine’s dinner.  Boulder is a mecca for cultural variety, and the evidence lies in our diverse lineup of restaurants.  Vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free diners will have no trouble finding a romantic dinner spot this Valentine’s Day.

A Taste of France

French cuisine has long been considered one of the more romantic choices when it comes to wining-and-dining, and Brasserie Ten Ten is no exception.  Not only is it one of Boulder’s most beloved restaurants, this fabulous restaurant boasts some of the finest French cuisine in the area.

This Valentine’s Day, Brasserie is whipping out their most romantic concoctions.  Start the evening by trying their lavender tossed snow crab, and for your main course, indulge in a selection of lobster, lamb, or scallops.  How heavenly does this sound?

There are plenty of romantic places to choose from in Boulder.  L’Atelier, in particular, is one of Boulder’s most intimate spots to enjoy your Valentine’s dinner.  It’s sexy, and with a vibe that’s very Upper West Side.  This year, in addition to their already divine menu, they are offering a special menu featuring lobster, steak, champagne, and of course, chocolate to end the evening on an even sweeter note.

Sushi Please

Next on our list of uber romantic restaurants are Japango and Sushi Tora.  These two restaurants feature some of the most exquisite Japanese cuisine in town.  Sushi Tora’s house-made sauces are all gluten free, which makes it an excellent choice for those with dietary restrictions and food allergies.

Japango’s service and ambiance bring people back time and time again – there are even jelly fish floating around in a tank, how cool is that? For the sushi lovers of Boulder, these are definitely two restaurants to consider spending your romantic dinner.

American Fare with a Twist

The Bitter Bar is one of Boulder’s more hidden gems.  The décor inside is sexy and romantic, yet trendy all at the same time.  You can dwell in a private black booth or lounge on a beautiful red sofa.  Best known for their exemplary cocktails, The Bitter Bar also offers mouth watering, perfectly proportioned small plates, and even ice cream!  That’s right, The Bitter Bar has ice cream – and it’s damn good.  Join them this Valentine’s Day for a swanky night of romance with your special someone.

Italian Fare

Frasca Food and Wine is one of Boulder’s most frequented Italian restaurants.  Its atmosphere whispers casual elegance.  Everything on the menu comes from local, organic, and free range sources, giving your taste buds a truly, back-to-the-roots experience.  Aside from their exquisite dishes like scallops, quail, and lamb, their wine menu would bring any sommelier to tears of joy.  Wine lovers near and far, this is the place for you to dine on Valentine’s Day.

Arugula is another elegant Italian restaurant in Boulder worth considering for Valentine’s Day.  With chandeliers gracefully swaying above perfectly set tables, it’s truly a place for romance.  Their concept is simple, natural, and pleasurable dining, and this year, they’re rolling out a special, four-course prix fixe menu loaded with mouth watering items like beet salad, crab bisque, oysters, and yes – chocolate.

How About Mexican?

While Mexican isn’t normally on the list of top romantic cuisines, Comida will certainly make you change your mind.  The restaurant itself is fun and trendy, with a hint of sophistication.  Their menu includes a variety of delicious – and reasonably priced – tacos, as well an array of traditional items.  Thinking of a more low key evening?  Comida is the place for you.

A romantic evening finished off with a romantic dinner for two is definitely an important component of Valentine’s Day, and often one of the more eagerly anticipated aspects.  Boulder’s abundance of restaurants and array of cuisines makes it virtually effortless to find a place to wine and dine your sweetie.  So celebrate, be merry, and indulge in Boulder’s finest flavors this Valentine’s Day.
