Snow Much Fun In Boulder, Colorado

Feel like getting out of the house for a bit, but not sure where to go? Boulder Parks and Recreation presents Snow Much Fun in the Civic Area, a series of events and activities perfect to keep your spirits bright during the dark days of Colorado winter. Take a stroll under the lights, learn the art of cocktail crafting, or give ice skating a go—you can do it all right here in downtown Boulder.

Creekside Play Area Grand Opening

When: Saturday, December 9; 11 am – 1 pm

Where: Boulder Civic Area

After more than a year of construction, the much-anticipated Creekside Play Area is finally ready to open. Designed to foster hands-on learning about our natural world, this amenity is more than just a playground: it’s a state-of-the-art educational experience. The Grand Opening event features free refreshments, live music, and various kids’ activities.

Free Community Ice Skate

When: Saturday, December 9; 2 – 4 pm

Where: Downtown Boulder WinterSkate

The ice skating rink next to the Dushanbe Teahouse is open through February 2018, but following the Creekside Play Area Grand Opening on December 9th, admission is free. Bundle up, throw on some skates, and go for a spin beneath the luminous strings of cheerful LEDs.

Adultology: Understanding Mixology

When: Thursday, December 14; 6 – 8:30 pm

Where: Canyon Gallery, Boulder Public Library

Ever wondered how to create the perfect cocktail? Now you can learn the tricks of the trade at this adults-only seminar, part of the Boulder Public Library’s Seed to Table series promoting sustainable living. Join chef Matt Collier as he gives an in-depth presentation on the art of mixology, including a little local history and some tasty samples.

Snow Much Fun Family Winter Festivity

When: Saturday, December 16; 5 – 8 pm

Where: Boulder Civic Area

Enjoy live music, figure skating, refreshments, and more underneath 225,000 dazzling LED lights in the Boulder Civic Area. Be sure to dress warmly, as the event begins after sundown. But don’t worry—you can head inside BMoCA for some kid-friendly crafts and warm up with hot chocolate!

Young Artists at Work Holiday Camp

When: Friday, December 29; 9 am – 5 pm

Where: Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art

BMoCA’s Young Artists at Work series gives kids the chance to immerse themselves in a day of art-making and creativity inspired by seasonal themes and the museum’s exhibitions. This month’s workshop, “Patterns and Textures of the Season,” features pattern-making, watercolor and oil pastel resist, and more.
