Boulder Business Feature: Ninox

With temperatures getting colder here in Boulder, it’s time to think about winter outerwear. Men take note: there’s a new designer menswear label in town catering to all of your outerwear needs. Boulder men are stereotypically outdoorsy, yet many also want clothing that can look polished for daily wear around town as well. Enter Ninox, a new menswear company based out of Boulder, Colorado.

Ninox has designed their first fall collection for the man whose life demands both function and fashion. Founders Allie Thielens and Greg Casals named their label after a genus of owls. The company’s vision revolves around the use of the highest quality fabrics to create sophisticated, wearable men’s clothing. Their designs reflect the relationship between nature and daily life, with easy-to-wear, expertly crafted outerwear pieces.

Ninox fills the elusive gap between functional and fashionable in the world of men’s outerwear. This is especially pragmatic here in Colorado, where many still bike to work even on freezing winter days. According to their website, Ninox’s designs are inspired by the “vibrant energy of the city, the free spirit of the west, and the connection between the outdoors and everyday life.”

This fall marks the launch of their inaugural collection, which includes four different outerwear pieces, made from a variety of high-quality fabrics.  Take “The Bennet” jacket for example. This attractive coat bears resemblance to a field jacket, but is constructed with blended wool and bonded fleece. It is lightweight and breathable, all the while water, stain, and wind repellant—it might be the only jacket you’ll need all winter.

Ninox’s collection also features more casual options, like updated versions of a puffer jacket as well as a hoodie. “The Weston hoodie” definitely elevates this men’s wardrobe staple to new heights. Made in the USA with organic cotton, it boasts the classic hoodie look with extra touches like a fleece-lined hood, and an audio cord valve.

Items from Ninox’s collection aren’t cheap, but with their durability and solid cold-weather performance, they’re definitely well worth it. Ninox will constantly be adding new products and pieces as well, like the soon-to-come merino cotton dress shirt.

If you’re looking for a new winter coat, look no further than Ninox. The classic styling updated with functional materials makes for practical and beautiful clothing for any setting.
