Events in Boulder to Keep Kids Busy During Winter Break

Winter Break is quickly approaching, and if you’re a busy parent, it’s time to start thinking about ways to keep the kids entertained. Boulder has several excellent options that are both enriching and fun for kids of all ages this year. Take a look at a few of our picks below – there may be an event or two that your children will enjoy:

Snow Much Fun

The holiday season is the perfect time of year to spend quality time with loved ones. Boulder’s annual Snow Much Fun event is ideal for getting out of the house together and enjoying the sights and activities in town. From November 19 through mid-February, Central Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland with gorgeous light displays. Snow Much Fun offers more than just festive lights—the WinterSkate rink is scheduled to open on December 2, and there are also a variety of holiday-themed events each weekend. From a winter parade complete with floats to a gift-making session, there are great memories to be made at this community festival. To see the full schedule, visit their website.

Boulder Rock Club Winter Camp

During the colder months, it can be difficult for kids to find safe ways to get active. To promote healthy habits in an encouraging environment, sign your children up for Winter Camp, hosted by Boulder Rock Club (BRC). This club is one of the most popular rock climbing facilities in Boulder, and the instructors are passionate about helping little ones develop their climbing skills. BRC’s Winter Camp is available from December 26 to January 5. Enrollment is flexible—your child can sign up for just one day, the entire two weeks, or somewhere in between.

Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art Kids’ Workshop

If you have a little artist in the family, don’t miss out on the opportunity to enroll in BMoCA’s Young Artists at Work Holiday Camp. This one-day camp will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on December 29. The instructional session centers on textures and patterns, and is ideal for allowing young artists to explore different styles of expression and techniques. BMoCA offers several youth programs and workshops, so if your child is excited about attending, check out the selection of upcoming events.

Stir It Up Winter Mini Camp

It’s never too early to start teaching your children the importance of kitchen safety and basic cooking skills. Stir It Up offers kids’ camps during winter and summer breaks, as well as classes scheduled throughout the year. Class activities are based on age and ability level, so all attendees can feel comfortable while attending the mini camp. Classes tend to fill up quickly, so take a look at the schedule here.

To keep your family happy and free from boredom during the winter break, explore one or more of the events mentioned here.
