June Events in Boulder, Colorado

We love the summer season in Boulder.  The town is filled with concerts, farmers markets, art walks, marathons, and so much more.  June days are hot – we can all attest to that, and many of these events take place outdoors.  Luckily for us, we’ve got the Boulder Creek, the Boulder Reservoir, and many other watering holes to cool off in.  Read on for a sneak peak of all that Boulder has to offer this month!

Bands on the Bricks

When: Every Wednesday from June 11th through August 13th

Where: Pearl Street Mall

Summers in Boulder aren’t complete without a concert series or two, and Bands on the Bricks is a long-time favorite.  This casual, yet musically magnificent event includes a variety of bands playing every Wednesday, a beer garden, and drink specials from some of our favorite local restaurants and breweries.  A few of the bands being featured this summer season include Soul School, Hazel Miller Band, Euforquestra and The JV3. Be sure to check out Bands on the Bricks this Summer as it’s a Boulder staple!

NOBO First Friday

When: June 6th

Where: North Boulder Art District

Boulder prides itself for its artistic side, and First Friday is the perfect way to pay your respects to our city’s talented artists.  From 6 – 9 pm, local painters, potters, fashion designers, musicians, and artisans will welcome you into their studios and show you their best work.  The Art walk will take place along North Broadway, from Lee Hill to Pine St.  If you’re looking to try something new, then grab your friends and head down for this Art walk; you’ll leave with more appreciation for Boulder’s artists than ever before.

Hanuman Festival

When: June 12th – 15th

The Hanuman Festival is one of Boulder’s most cherished events. It encompasses a day of live music, yoga, and spiritual growth that so many in Boulder yearn for year round.  Whether you attend this event alone, or with your closes friends, you will leave feeling more enlightened and inspired than you have all year.

When: June 21st

Where: Boulder Rock Club

Climb4Life is a great event to take part in.  Both novice and experienced climbers can take part, and enjoy a day of hiking and climbing – all in support of ovarian cancer survivors and their family.  Celebrate their strength and courage with your fellow outdoor enthusiasts, while raising funds to support the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation. This fundraiser is great for families and singles alike, so come out and support a good cause!

Bike to Work Day

When: June 25th

Where: Everywhere!

Many of us here in Boulder already have taken the initiative to bike to work on a regular basis.  To celebrate those of us who regularly choose two wheels over four, and to encourage others to join the movement, June 25th is the official Bike to Work Day.  Don’t be the odd man out!

Paul Kimbiris & The Paper Stars

When: June 28th at 9:00pm

Where: The Fox Theatre

Tickets: $10 in advance and $12 day of show

Philadelphian turned Boulderite, Paul Kimbiris, has been traveling the world and playing music for nearly 15 years.  His style is eclectic and unique, fitting perfectly with Boulder’s style.  His songs have been featured in an array of TV shows, most notably on “The Shield,” an Emmy Award winning drama.

On June 28th, Kimbiris will debut his first full-length album at the Fox.  Those in attendance can expect to hear a collection of sounds, from electric and acoustic guitars, to pump organs and an assortment of string instruments.   Hurry up and get your tickets while they last – all of Boulder plans to be there in support of their local musician.

For a full list of concerts taking place this month, be sure to check out websites for Fox Theatre, Boulder Theater, and Red Rocks!

As you can see, this month is full of events for both families and those ready to let loose.  Between yoga festivals, charity hikes and concerts, everyone’s calendars should be quite full this month.  Boulder never lets us down, wouldn’t you agree?
