July 2018 Events In Boulder

As temperatures get even hotter in Boulder this summer, so too does the programming. From festivals to concerts—there’s something for the whole family around the Flatirons this July.

Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast

When: July 4 at 8pm

Where: Folsom Field

Gates open for this annual free July 4th event at 8pm. Families will love the range of performances before the fireworks show. Funkiphino kicks off the event with their grooving jamband sound, followed by the student musicians of School of Rock Boulder playing new and classic tunes to delight the crowd. Jeff and Paige from Open Space and Mountain Parks lead the traditional sing-along of classic patriotic songs. Then, Beat Frequency, the duo known for their performances on America’s Got Talent and The voice, will bring the house down for the national anthem. In-between the talented musicians, Pearl Street Jive will get people up and moving with their Lindy Hop music and moves.

Perilous Journeys

When: July 10-29

Where: Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art

This multi-media exhibit examines the contentious nature of the American-Mexico border and the stories of those making the trek into the United States in search of a better life. Five artists, including Chicano Carlos Fresquez of Denver, dive deep into the narratives around immigration over the border. Motus Theater will display film of monologues by undocumented youth. This exhibit is an important discussion that couldn’t be more relevant.

Dead and Company

When: July 13 and 14

Where: Folsom Field

Fan favorite Dead and Company returns to Folsom Field for its third year in a row to spend two nights rocking Boulder. Dead and Company features four former members of The Grateful Dead and John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti. Deadheads and new fans alike love the performances of Dead and Company, creating a bridge between generations during their incredible sets.

Strider Cup World Championships

When: July 20-21

Where: Boulder Central Park

Calling all families with little ones! The Strider Cup World Championships is a great event to take your tots. Kids from 18-months to 6 years will compete in their age range for a day full of adventuring and smiles. Spectator admission is free, but if your little one wants to compete, there is a $27 registration fee. The Strider Cup World Championships aims to encourage children to explore, make new friends, and play outdoors. This is an excellent way to spend a weekend outdoors with your children while encouraging them to get active.

Sanitas Taco Fest

When: July 21st 12-8pm

Where: Sanitas Brewing Company

Soak up the hot summer day with over 40 gourmet tacos and 20 exclusive beers at the Sanitas Taco Fest. This family-friendly event will have your taste buds tingling all afternoon thanks to the food provided by McDevitt Taco Supply. Go for the food, but stay for the entertainment and enjoy the Lucha Libre fighters, live music, and piñatas.

Pearl Street Arts Fest

When: July 21-22

Where: Pearl Street between 11th and 15th

This annual juried event gives our town the chance to celebrate local and international talent all weekend long. Artists specializing in a variety of mediums—from ceramics to jewelry to painting to sculptures—display their works from 10am-7pm both days. There is also a mobile art lab for children to develop their artistic style.
