December is a wonderful time of year to brush up on your culinary skills or test out new recipes. Whether you’ll be hosting visitors for the holidays and want to offer them top-notch dishes, or you’re looking for a fun way to spend an evening, drop by Food Lab in Boulder for a night of learning and delicious meals. Here, we share details about upcoming classes.

About Food Lab

Food Lab is a cooking school with a pretty laidback environment, so don’t feel intimidated if you’re not very confident in your cooking abilities. Even for experienced chefs, the ambiance at this culinary hub is perfect for a night out. In addition to cooking instruction for adults, this hot spot hosts programs for kids and team building for corporate events.

Each month, Food Lab holds a variety of interesting cooking classes. Everything you need for the session is provided on site, including ingredients and cookware. However, if you have a set of cooking tools that you can’t live without, feel free to take them with you. Most classes last approximately three hours: 90 minutes of cooking instruction, and a 30-minute tasting opportunity. Here’s what’s on the schedule for December:

Fresh Pasta Workshop

On Friday, December 1, join the group at Food Lab to learn how to make Ramen noodles and a variety of savory broths. The class will begin at 6:00 p.m., and you’ll create a delectable bowl of warm soup and noodles from scratch. If you often crave comforting soups throughout the colder months, this course is a great option to explore.

Cookie Baking Class For Families

Finding activities that are educational and fun for the whole family can be a challenge. For more quality time together, check out the family classes available at Food Lab. This session is ideal for the winter season, as you’ll learn how to make delicious gingerbread and sugar cookies, as well as other special holiday goodies. If this sounds right down your alley, there are four different dates and times to choose from: December 10 at 3:00 p.m., December 16 at 12:00 p.m., December 17 at 2:00 p.m., and December 23 at 1:00 p.m.

Latkes Class

Making great latkes requires the right technique, so it can be difficult to master this dish without quality instruction. On December 17 at 5:30 p.m., Food Lab is offering a latke class, where you’ll be privy to recipes for five different flavors. From classic potato to spiced apple, there’s a little bit of everything here.

Champagne and Fried Chicken Class

Fried chicken and champagne might seem like an unconventional combination, but don’t knock it ‘til you try it. 😉 If you’re a fan of fried chicken and you’d love to learn how to whip up some fresh comfort food from scratch, don’t miss out on this cooking session on December 28 at 6:00 p.m. After attending this event, you’ll be able to make a fresh batch of honey Ancho glazed chicken with a variety of interesting sides, perfectly complemented with a glass of bubbly.

Food Lab has an exciting selection of courses every month, and the classes described here are just a few of the December options. To learn more about the upcoming events, visit their website.
