Celebrate the Kentucky Derby in style at Boulder Lifestyle Magazine’s 7th annual event. This beloved American pastime is synonymous with the first Saturday in May and Boulder celebrates like no other! Don your derby hat and come out to watch The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.

When and Where:

Corrida at 1023 Walnut St #400 is set to host this private event.

The Derby and Afterparty:

This is a private event for invitees of Boulder Lifestyle Magazine, Highland City Club members, and There With Care donors. You’ll be counted as a donor if you’ve attended past Boulder Lifestyle Kentucky Derby Parties and are invited to attend this year’s celebration.

Tickets start at $100 and include drinks, hors d’oeuvres and lively entertainment.

Sip on a mint julep while bidding on silent auction items. Once the race is over, head to the St Julien for live music and dancing. Proceeds from the event support Boulder’s There With Care non-profit organization, which helps families whose children are battling a critical illness.

The History of The Derby

Merriweather Lewis Clark – grandson of famed explorer William Clark – traveled to Europe and spent time with the French Jockey Club. Upon seeing a spectacular horse race, he wanted to bring the event back to the states. Thus, the Kentucky Derby was born.

The Kentucky Derby is a 144-year-old tradition, but it’s more than just a horse race. It’s a celebration of Southern culture and American history. The event is the longest running sports event in our country’s history. The Derby even continued throughout The Great Depression and World Wars I & II – just a testament to our nation’s pride and a benchmark for embracing tradition.

Boulder is known internationally as being progressive, open minded, and inclusive. In recent years, our beloved city has acquired transplants from around the country, and world, because of this exceptional mindset. Events like the Derby help us come together as a community and celebrate our nation’s history while looking toward a future together. It’s more than mint juleps and fancy hats – it’s a time to remember where America has been and where we want her to go.

The Kentucky Derby is always a cause for celebration. Join in for this vibrant event and support an invaluable organization that provides support to our community’s children.
