August 2018 Events in Boulder

Events in BoulderSummertime may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. August marks one of the hottest months of the year–and not just because of the temps. This month, experience a wide range of events and festivals that are sure to keep that summer feeling alive.

Shake It Up: Cocktails and Cuisine

When: 8/7 from 6-9:30pm

Where: Boulder Brands on the rooftop deck

This summer libation celebration benefits the upcoming Flatirons Food Film Festival and features cocktails, live jazz, short films, and both live and silent auctions. Local Boulder celebrity Bryan Dayton will give a short presentation on mixology while attendees sip custom creations and sample fare from Blackbelly, Bramble and Hare, and Emmerson. Local Table Tours and Pastificio Boulder supply some extra-special drinks and homemade pasta, and the evening is rounded out by delicious dessert “cocktails” from Fortuna Chocolate. This is an excellent choice for those who want to mingle with and learn from the best in the bartending business while supporting the growing Flatirons Food Film Festival.

Boulder International Fringe Festival

When: 8/15-8/26

Where: Various venues throughout Boulder

The Boulder International Fringe Festival brings artists from all over to collaborate and produce shows in a celebration of performance art. The aim of the festival is to help build the artistic community, provide resources for artists to learn from one another, and offer professional venues to the diverse group of creatives. Performances during the festival range from family-friendly revues like The Perfict Family and MasterMimes and contemporary dance from T2 Dance, to the adult-oriented absurdist theater by Michael Burgos (and much, much more). The Boulder International Fringe Festival gives the community the chance to immerse themselves in delightful, challenging, and unexpected performances by talented artists from around the world.

Boulder Craft Beer Fest

When: 8/18 from 1-5pm

Where: North Boulder Park

Calling all craft brew lovers! The Boulder Craft Beer Fest is back for its fifth year to celebrate the most popular beverage in Colorado. Grab your friends or family and spend the afternoon in the park sampling beer brewed by over thirty small companies from the Boulder County area and beyond. Favorites like Oskar Blues, Upslope Brewery, and Great Divide Brewing Co. will offer tastings alongside innovators like Finkel & Garf, Redstone Meadery, and Crooked Stave. And with food from the city’s best like Cured and Zeal, you’ll have plenty of snacks to complement your brews. Don’t forget to wear your dancing shoes, because bands The Sweet Lillies and Foxfeather will have you grooving all afternoon.

Grapes and Grass

When: 8/24-8/25

Where: Highland City Club

Grapes and Grass combines three things Boulderites love: wine, live music, and the outdoors. This two-day festival begins with a kick-off party with wines chosen by Master Sommelier Brett Zimmerman, and an intimate performance by The Mighty Pines. Then, on Saturday the 25th, enjoy 10 hours of live music from the likes of Tiffany Christopher and The Hunting Party, Arthur Lee Land’s Twang is Dead + Twang is Salmon, and many more bluegrass favorites. Cured will treat those with VIP passes to special tents and a curated selection of cuisine, while everyone can enjoy two hours of free wine tastings during the event. Afterwards, continue the party with the After Grass show at The Boulder Theater with Gasoline Lollipops & The Drunken Hearts!
