August 2017 Events In Boulder, Colorado

August has returned, so it’s time to make the most of these final moments of summer. The kids are still spending their days outside instead of in class. The rest of us are enjoying these long days of sunshine and farm-fresh dinners. As luck would have it, this month is full of live music and events to celebrate in Boulder. Here are a few August events we recommend you check out before summer comes to an end:

Colorado Shakespeare Festival

When: June 11 – August 13, 2017

Where: Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre and The University Theatre

Celebrate the final weeks of the 60th annual Colorado Shakespeare festival. There are still two weeks left of Shakespeare’s finest, such as “Julius Caesar”, “Hamlet”, “Henry VI” and “The Taming of the Shrew”. Find a complete list of shows and show times here.

SPARK!: Tours for Individuals with Memory Loss 

When: August 18, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Where: Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art

This specially designed tour through the BMoCA is certain to change your perspective and open your horizons to the facets of memory loss. Take a friend or family member, or enjoy this event on your own as you’re guided by trained docents through the museum, and even have the chance to participate in activities yourself.

Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance Festival Showcase: Toward The Light

When: July 30 – August 11, 2017

Where: Dairy Arts Center, Gordon Gamm Theater

August ushers in the 19th annual Aerial Dance Festival presented by Frequent Flyers. This soaring and spectacular event provides attendees with an awesome mix of world-renowned aerial artists. Styles on display include trapeze, lyra, fabric, invented apparatus. and more.

Summer Sidewalk Sale

When: August 4 – August 6, 2017

Where: Throughout downtown Boulder

This annual event allows you to land great deals from your favorite merchants AND help Boulder’s economy. After all, $68 of every $100 spent during the weekend stays local. Hundreds of businesses will be participating to offer our community the best deals of the summer.

Boulder Craft Beer Festival

When: Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Where: North Boulder Park

Sample beer from 30 Colorado-based breweries, listen to live music, and take part in the 4th annual Boulder Craft Beer Festival. This event sells out every year, and for good reason. It’s hard not to have a great time with everything that’s lined up for this year’s celebration.

Colorado Music Festival

When: June 29 – August 4, 2017

Where: Chautauqua Auditorium

There are only two concerts left in the 40th annual Colorado Music Festival. While there have been outstanding performances all summer long, some of the best certainly have been saved for last. Enjoy the mastery of Mahler’s Ninth as conducted by Jean-Marie Zeitouni on Thursday, August 3 and/or the impassioned performance of violinist Gil Shaham to close the season on Friday, August 4.

Bands on the Bricks

When: August 2nd and August 9th, 2017

Where: Pearl Street Mall

This summer-long Wednesday night event series is finally coming to a close with only two nights left to enjoy the festivities. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, come out to Pearl Street to experience a beer garden featuring special brews from Avery Brewing Company while listening to Chain Station on August 2 and Chris Daniels and the Kings with Freddi Gowdy on August 9.
